RAG for business: answers from your own knowledge

When a customer asks, the answer should have somewhere useful to come from.

Salma, an illustrated AI colleague for your business

What RAG means in everyday language

Retrieval-augmented generation combines finding relevant information with composing a conversational answer. For a business, the important question is not the acronym: it is whether the assistant can use the approved policy or service information that addresses the customer’s question.

What you still need to maintain

A retrieval-based answer depends on the available sources. Conflicting, incomplete or outdated documents create a poor starting point. Prepare clear information, keep it current and test the questions customers actually ask, including questions whose answer is missing.

What RAG does not do on its own

RAG is not permission to act in another system. It does not automatically expose a customer’s order, update a booking or make every answer correct. In Salma, knowledge and operational workflows have different roles. We can demonstrate the distinction using your own business scenario.

FAQ

Questions, answered

Is RAG useful for an FAQ chatbot?

Yes, when questions need answers from selected business information. A simple fixed answer may be enough for some questions; the goal is usefulness, not complexity.

Can I rely on it without human review?

Review the initial knowledge and representative responses, and keep a route to staff for exceptions. AI-generated answers can still need correction.
